This is a full-time (0.9 FTE) Registered Nurse position in the Labor and Delivery department at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. The schedule is 7p-7a nights, with every 3rd weekend rotation, and includes on-call requirements and holiday tracking. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, collaborating with the care team, and upholding a culture of safety. The position requires continuous evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, with appropriate action taken as needed. Medication administration, treatment, and therapy administration are also key functions, performed safely and according to clinical protocols. Effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution are essential for fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. The role also involves pursuing professional development, completing required education, and maintaining certifications, while adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics and practicing ethical decision-making. Appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and accurate, timely EHR documentation are required. The nurse may be required to float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs. The position requires demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, understanding the principles of growth and development over the life span and possessing the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret information to identify age-specific needs.
