About The Position

The Intermediate Care (IMC) Unit is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurses to join their award-winning team. This 30-bed unit, comprising 14 private and 8 semi-private rooms, provides care for a diverse patient population with cardiac and pulmonary conditions, as well as those experiencing surgical complications. Uniquely, the unit cares for ventilator-dependent patients with tracheostomies, a service typically found only in the ICU. The team strives to maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio to ensure safe, high-quality care and staff support. The IMC team consists of nurses with varying experience levels, from new graduates to those with over 30 years of service. They are proud recipients of the Daisy Team Award for excellence, teamwork, and patient-centered care. Requirements

Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required)
1 year of RN experience (required)
BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire)
BSMH nurses are expected to practice and deliver care in accordance with the core concepts and intention of the BSMH Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Responsibilities

Delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment.
Identifies and determines the priority of patient’s problems/needs.
Evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
Coordinates, provides, and directs patient teaching activities.
Coordinates the care provided by health team members.
Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
Administers medications safely and consistently with State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures.
Serves as the point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
Serves as a patient advocate in collaboration with spiritual care, palliative care, and ethics.
Serves as a point of care with care coordination and family members or caregivers.
Clinically manages patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma.
Restores, supports, promotes, rehabilitates, or palliates to maintain the physiologic, psychologic, and psychosocial stability of patients across the lifespan using the AACN Synergy Model.
Synthesizes and prioritizes information to take immediate and decisive evidence-based, patient-focused action using clinical judgment and clinical inquiry.
Anticipates and responds with confidence and adapts to rapidly changing patient conditions.
Responds to the unique needs of patients and families coping with unanticipated illness or injury and treatment, and advocates for their choices in quality of life.
Assigns patient care according to the nursing skill, knowledge, and scope of practice of staff.
