About The Position

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Augusta Health is seeking both new and experienced nurses to join their dynamic and teamwork-driven team. This is a newly renovated 14-bed unit that provides top-notch, holistic care for a diverse group of patients, including cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, and complex surgical patients. Interventions include Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Intra-Aortic balloon pumps, Impella, and Therapeutic Hypothermia. The Registered Nurse is accountable for the coordination of direct patient care, education, and serves as a leader of the patient care team, working closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine)
  • Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
  • CPR
  • ACLS within one year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • BSN, MSN preferred
  • Specific orientation for Critical Care Nursing
  • Must have a strong desire to work with a high-risk and complex patient population.
  • Must have solid critical thinking skills and a strong application of the nursing process.
  • Must have effective adherence to infection control practices.
  • Positive attitude, with enthusiasm for caring for our community
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of direct patient care, education, and leadership of the patient care team.
  • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Delivery of patient care for assigned patients on a specific shift.
  • Coordination of all aspects of the medical plan and nursing standards of care using the nursing process.
  • Direct and guide the activities of other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
  • Provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
