About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a 12-hour night shift position. This role involves working with an interdisciplinary team to care for a patient population with complex medical and behavioral health needs. The unit will also manage med-surg overflow and may experience high patient turnover based on hospital demands. The RN is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized patient care, collaborating with colleagues, and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise. The position adheres to the standards set by the Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients.
  • Collaborate with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge.
  • Utilize appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
  • Care for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients move along the continuum of care.
  • Plan and coordinate care, conduct patient assessments, provide patient education, triage, and perform various other nursing interventions.
  • Function within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.
