About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for an Inpatient unit. This role offers an opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team, providing support and care for a patient population exhibiting a vast array of medical and behavioral components. The unit is designed for patients with significant medical conditions and behavioral components that staff will manage. Additionally, the unit can accept med-surg overflow, potentially leading to dynamic patient movement based on hospital needs. The Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver individualized nursing care to patients. Candidates should be compassionate, adaptable, and flexible in an ever-changing environment, possessing strong communication and time management skills, detail orientation, patience, and empathy, even in difficult situations. A key aspect is having respect for and an understanding of how medical and behavioral aspects contribute to patient conditions, how they present symptomatically, and how to manage both areas to promote the best patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • Compassionate, adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment.
  • Must encompass strong communication & time management skills, be detail oriented and exude patience & empathy, even in difficult situations.
  • Have respect for and an understanding of how medical and behavioral aspects contribute to patient conditions, how they present symptomatically and how to manage both areas to promote best outcomes for patients served.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients.
  • Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
  • Cares for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients move along the continuum of care.
  • Responsible for the planning and coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions.
  • Functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure.
