About The Position

Wilson Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) for Infection Control. This role is part of the Health Support Center (HSC) team, which supports facilities in providing care to patients and community members. The Infection Prevention & Employee Health team is crucial for maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-quality care environment. This department collaborates with nursing leadership, clinical teams, environmental services, laboratory, and hospital administration to implement best practices in infection prevention, surveillance, regulatory compliance, and employee health management. The position reports directly to the Director of Quality and serves as a key resource for hospital leadership, department managers, and medical staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required (degree in progress considered).
Four years of acute care hospital experience or equivalent required.
Current RN license to practice in North Carolina.
Professional Infection Control Certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire/transfer.

Nice To Haves

Previous infection prevention experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Coordinates and evaluates the hospital’s infection prevention and control strategies, policies, and programs.
Conducts surveillance, data collection, analysis, and reporting of healthcare‑associated infection data.
Oversees cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and aseptic technique practices across the facility.
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting agency standards.
Performs new‑hire health screenings and manages employee exposure follow‑up.
Provides education and serves as a resource to staff, leadership, and medical providers.
Supports development of employee health and infection prevention initiatives and annual program evaluations.
