About The Position

This is a Full-Time benefited position for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Imaging Center Prep and Recovery unit. The role is scheduled for 36 hours per week (.9 FTE) on the day shift, with no weekends or holidays required. The unit operates weekdays from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm. Assignments maintain a 2:1 patient to nurse ratio. The RN will support 22 bays for the Cath Lab, Ep Lab, and Interventional Radiology. Responsibilities include pre-procedure preparation, such as verifying patient allergies, medications, and lab values, performing neuro and pulse checks, shaving, and administering pre-procedure antibiotics. Post-procedure recovery involves monitoring vital signs, incision sites, dressings, educating patients on discharge instructions, and ensuring adherence to procedure-specific bedrest. This may also include post-procedure neuro, pulse, and groin checks, and sheath pulling. BLS and ACLS are required due to the potential for mild sedation to general anesthesia during procedures.

Requirements

Current Michigan Nursing License
Graduation from an accredited nursing program
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
BSN degree or agreement in writing to obtain BSN within five (5) years from date of hire (for hires effective January 1, 2013, and after).

Responsibilities

Perform pre-procedure checklist to verify patient's allergies, medications, and lab values are within guidelines.
Conduct neuro and pulse checks.
Perform shaving as needed for procedures.
Administer pre-procedure antibiotics.
Monitor vital signs, incision sites, and dressings during recovery.
Educate patients on discharge instructions.
Ensure patients maintain procedure-specific bedrest.
Perform post-procedure neuro, pulse, and groin checks.
Perform sheath pulling.
Maintain a 2:1 patient to nurse ratio.
