Registered Nurse (RN) ICU - PRN
About The Position
This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The ICU operates with a 1:2 nurse to patient ratio and is staffed with Registered Nurses (RNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). The unit offers Telehealth intensivists for immediate support and manages a diverse range of diagnoses including respiratory failure, cardio/pulmonary disease, sepsis, and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, administering specialized treatments, monitoring critical conditions, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Requirements
- Current North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license
- Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
- AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Responsibilities
- Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
- Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
- Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
- Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
- Performs timely and accurate QI assessments
