About The Position

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a full-time experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a night shift position. The Critical Care (ICU) Unit is a 12-bed negative-pressure unit dedicated to providing exceptional care to adult and geriatric patients with potentially life-threatening medical and surgical conditions. A collaborative team-nursing approach ensures comprehensive and compassionate care for critically ill patients. The patient population includes individuals with cardiac, respiratory, renal, metabolic, or multi-organ disorders, as well as those recovering from surgery, with intracranial bleeds, stroke, sepsis, pneumonia, DKA's, heart failure, and COVID-19. Interventions provided include Artic Sun therapy, cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, acute ventilator support and management, post-tPA care, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), EKOS catheter therapy, management of Malignant Hyperthermia, and Massive Transfusion Protocols. The team includes Intensivists, ICU coverage, Clinical Director/Senior Director support, RN Unit Supervisor, RNs, Clinical technicians, Palliative/WRTC partnership, Critical Care Educator, and Critical Care Mentor support. RNs maintain a 1:2 nurse/patient ratio, except for identified 1:1s.

Requirements

• 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• BLS for healthcare provider certification from AHA required.
• RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN.

Nice To Haves

• 2 or more years of ICU RN experience.
• Unit involvement
• ACLS (must obtain within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional care to adult and geriatric patients with potentially life-threatening medical and surgical conditions.
• Collaborate with a team-nursing approach to ensure comprehensive and compassionate care for critically ill patients.
• Administer interventions including Artic Sun therapy, cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, acute ventilator support and management, post-tPA care, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), EKOS catheter therapy, management of Malignant Hyperthermia, and Massive Transfusion Protocols.
• Maintain a 1:2 nurse/patient ratio, except for identified 1:1s.
