About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) House Supervisor provides administrative and clinical leadership for all acute care nursing units during off-hours. This role is the primary decision-maker for hospital-wide operations, ensuring that staffing levels match patient acuity and that "patient flow" (admissions, transfers, and discharges) is handled efficiently to prevent bottlenecks in the Emergency Department. The RN House Supervisor acts as the first responder and coordinator for Rapid Response Teams and Code Blues across all acute care floors, and serves as the on-site administrative representative to resolve immediate concerns between patients, families, and physicians. This role also monitors units for compliance with The Joint Commission safety standards and hospital policies.

Requirements

  • Current Arizona RN license
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school
  • BCLS required (within 3 months of hire/transfer)
  • ACLS required (within 3 months of hire/transfer)
  • 4-5 years of bedside nursing required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science (BSN) preferred
  • 1 year of nurse management or house supervisor preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and clinical leadership for all acute care nursing units during off-hours.
  • Serves as the primary decision-maker for hospital-wide operations.
  • Ensures that staffing levels match patient acuity.
  • Manages "patient flow" (admissions, transfers, and discharges) to prevent bottlenecks in the Emergency Department.
  • Coordinates hospital-wide bed management and determines appropriate patient placement based on level of care.
  • Adjusts unit staffing in real-time based on fluctuating patient volumes and acuity scores, managing "sick calls" and agency staff.
  • Serves as the first responder and coordinator for Rapid Response Teams and Code Blues across all acute care floors.
  • Acts as the on-site administrative representative to resolve immediate concerns between patients, families, and physicians.
  • Monitors units for compliance with The Joint Commission safety standards and hospital policies.
