About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) on the GI GU Surgical Unit provides care to a wide variety of post-operative patients, including those undergoing complex gastro-intestinal, urology, and colorectal surgeries. This role is full-time, working three 12-hour shifts per week (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), with rotating weekends and holidays. Team members may be placed on call in response to census fluctuations. The unit is located in the new Justin Tower at Texas Health Fort Worth, a MAGNET facility and Level I Trauma Center. The unit will initially open with 20 beds and plans to expand to 36 beds later in the year. The position offers self-scheduling for work-life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth, supported by a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
1-year experience as a registered nurse or the completion of an RN Residency program

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
2+ years med surg experience as an RN in acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities
