About The Position
Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Geriatric Behavioral Health floor. This full-time position involves providing direct patient care, educating patients and families, running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, and managing patient records and medications. The role also includes patient follow-up, rehabilitation, and teaching patients how to manage their conditions.
Requirements
- Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards
- Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care
Responsibilities
- Treating patients
- Educating patients about mental and medical conditions
- Providing advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members
- Running therapeutic groups
- Psychiatric crisis intervention
- Seclusion and restraint of patients
- Recording patients’ medical histories and symptoms
- Helping to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results
- Operating medical machinery
- Administering treatment and medications
- Helping with patient follow-up and rehabilitation
- Teaching patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy
