Registered Nurse RN - Geriatric Behavioral Health
About The Position
This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Geriatric Behavioral Health unit at Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, IL. The role involves providing direct patient care, including treating patients, educating them and their families about mental and medical conditions, offering emotional support, running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, and managing seclusion and restraint. RNs are responsible for documenting patient histories and symptoms, assisting with diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering treatments and medications, and facilitating patient follow-up and rehabilitation. They also play a crucial role in teaching patients and families about managing their conditions, including diet, exercise, medication self-administration, and physical therapy.
Requirements
- Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards
- Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care
