About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Float Pool at Texas Health Southwest, a 222-bed MAGNET facility and Level III Trauma Center. The Float Pool serves as the central staffing department, offering the opportunity to work on various units including PCU, Med Surg, and ED Holds. The facility is located in Fort Worth, TX, and emphasizes work-life balance through self-scheduling. The role involves delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, while incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures. The position also focuses on maintaining continuity of patient care and educating patients and their significant others. Texas Health Southwest is part of a larger system that operates as one hospital across two locations, serving the southwest Fort Worth area since 1987, with a 261-bed capacity and a wide range of specialties including surgical services, orthopedics, rehabilitation, imaging, and adult critical care. The hospital holds numerous certifications and accreditations, including Primary Heart Attack Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Trauma Center, and Magnet designation.

Requirements

  • RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support - within 90 days of hire Required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire Required
  • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support – required for ED Neighborhood within 90 days of hire Required
  • NIHSS - required for ICU/PCU Neighborhood 6 Months Required
  • Float Pool Experience Required
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Float Pool experience preferred
  • Intermediate Care experience or strong telemetry background preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of intervention
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
