Registered Nurse (RN) Fellow Cardiac ICU
About The Position
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking an RN Fellow for an experienced RN who would like to transition into the CICU. The Critical Care Fellowship will be provided. CICU is a fast-paced cardiac critical care environment that strongly emphasizes teamwork, excellent patient care, and providing a variety of learning opportunities to support the professional growth of our team. Our high-performing nursing team collaborates closely with extensively trained medical colleagues, including a Cardiac Intensivist, Medical Intensivists, Interventionalists, and Cardiologists rotating as CICU attending, Cardiology Fellows, and Advanced Practice Providers.
Requirements
- 1 year of RN experience.
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
- If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required (AHA).
- RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN.
Nice To Haves
- 2+ years of Cardiac Telemetry, CV Stepdown, IMCU or PCU RN experience in Level 1 Trauma facility
- Proficient in EKG interpretation
- PCCN, CHFN or Cardiac/Vascular Nursing Certification
- Participation in unit-based or hospital committees.
Responsibilities
- Serve as STEMI response for the campus, including unstable STEMI management and post PCI/PTCA recovery.
- Manage complex cardiac arrest and cardiogenic shock, including therapeutic hypothermia, CRRT, VV and VA ECMO, Impella, and IABP therapies.
- Manage complex medical and mechanical circulatory support for pre-heart and pre-lung transplant patient populations.
- Manage complex unstable heart failure, including LVAD.
- Manage complex unstable arrhythmias, including care of complicated laser-assisted lead removal for PPM/AICD replacement and transvenous pacemakers.
- Provide advanced pulmonary hypertension therapies, including Intravenous Prostacyclin therapy.
