About The Position

This is a paid fellowship track designed to prepare RNs with 1 year plus of Medical/Surgical or Step Down experience for a successful transition into the Emergency Department (ED). The track includes didactic training with classroom sessions led by experienced ED educators and ENA modules covering emergency nursing principles, management of various emergencies, advanced life support protocols, crisis resource management, documentation standards, and competency assessments. It also includes hands-on clinical training with rotations through high-acuity ED zones, simulation-based training, and direct mentorship from seasoned ED nurses. Upon completion, fellows will be equipped to function independently in all areas of the ED. This opportunity is only open to experienced RNs; new graduates will not be considered.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience in Med/Surg or Stepdown units
Strong interpersonal skills
Critical thinking skills
Self-motivation
Flexibility to manage a high volume of patients in a Level I Trauma Center
BLS certification
BSN preferred (or commitment to obtain within 3 years)

PALS certification
TNCC certification

Responsibilities

Participate in didactic training covering emergency nursing principles and best practices.
Learn management of trauma, cardiac, neurological, and pediatric emergencies.
Understand advanced life support protocols (ACLS, PALS, TNCC).
Engage in crisis resource management and team communication training.
Adhere to documentation standards in emergency care.
Undergo competency assessments to ensure clinical readiness.
Participate in hands-on clinical training and rotations through high-acuity ED zones.
Engage in simulation-based training for emergency scenarios, rapid response, and triage decision-making.
Develop skills in IV insertion, airway management, trauma & wound care, and emergency medication administration.
Receive direct mentorship and preceptorship from seasoned ED nurses.
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other emergency care professionals.
Function independently in all areas of the ED upon completion of the fellowship.
