Under general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, the unit, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the registered nurse manages the care delivery for patients in the organization throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge. This involves utilizing the nursing process, coordinating care, delegating tasks, providing direct patient care, and documenting patient responses and needs. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. The role also includes responsibilities related to the Scrub RN, such as interpreting procedure cards, assessing case carts, anticipating physician needs, monitoring patient condition, evaluating case information, ensuring proper use of equipment, and acting as a resource for circulators. For specific hospitals, RNs are responsible for completing a Workday CBL on swing beds. Additional on-call requirements may apply for the HDU Department.
