About The Position

Venture Forthe is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Educator to instruct Personal Care Aide (PCA) Training classes in Syracuse, with travel to the Binghamton Region. This role supports the PCA Training Program, enabling the certification and hiring of PCAs to help individuals remain in their homes. The position offers a stable Monday-Friday daytime schedule with little to no on-call responsibility, providing a better work-life balance compared to unpredictable hospital shifts. The RN Educator will teach, mentor, and inspire home care professionals, utilizing their clinical knowledge without the demanding hospital schedule.

Requirements

  • Licensed and registered professional nurse (RN) in New York State
  • At least one (1) year of home healthcare experience (Department of Health Requirement)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s degree)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience
  • Strong understanding of the scope of practice for both professional and paraprofessional healthcare providers
  • Valid Driver's License and access to private reliable transportation
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to teach, coach, and engage learners of varying experience levels
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship of any kind.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of education or instructional experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach the NYS PCA certification classes in Syracuse and Binghamton.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining training material and curriculum for PCAs as needed.
  • Assist in the agency’s continuing education/in-service program and field competency testing of all clinical staff.
  • Conduct field competency testing for clinical staff in accordance with NYS Department of Health regulations.
  • Potentially oversee, coordinate, and directly supervise paraprofessional staff and private duty/shift nursing services.
  • Provide individualized remediation and tutoring support to trainees who require additional assistance.
  • Conduct ongoing progress checks throughout training to identify learning gaps early.
  • The primary responsibility is to teach and train PCA. When there are no classes, the trainer will support the Venture Forthe Field Nursing Team.
  • Travel required.
  • Occasional on-call hours required.
