About The Position

The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) at Frye Regional Medical Center is an 8-bed unit known for its exceptional teamwork, supportive culture, and commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. Nurses in the CDU have the opportunity to care for critically ill patients while being supported by experienced colleagues and engaged leadership dedicated to their success. This role involves caring for critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment, with opportunities for professional growth and meaningful relationships. The unit features 8 beds, 12-hour shifts, and self-scheduling. It is recognized for exceptional teamwork, a supportive culture, and a commitment to high-quality patient care.

Requirements

• Current state RN license
• Active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of CDU experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• At least two years of ICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments
