About The Position

This is a Per Diem opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cath Lab, offering overtime and the opportunity to cover various shifts if interested. The schedule is typically 7am-3:30pm, with requirements for on-call duty during weekdays and weekend shifts. The Imaging Procedural Nurse is responsible and accountable for all nursing care provided to patients, assisting cardiologists and allied professionals in the care of Interventional patients. This role requires willingness to cross-train and float to other Imaging Service areas. The nurse must recognize and manage stroke alerts, including performing and documenting the NIHSS, administering thrombolytic therapy, preparing patients for Endovascular treatment, and assuming patient care of stroke alerts within the Interventional Radiology Department. Maintaining currency in stroke knowledge through annual training is essential. Requirements

  • Graduate of an RN program accredited through the ACEN, CCNE, or CNEA
  • Current registered nurses license in the State of Florida
  • Minimum of two (2) year’s Level 2 Cardiac Cath experience preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for all nursing care provided to their patients.
  • Assisting the cardiologist and other allied professionals, both technically and clinically in the assessment, planning, executing and evaluating the care of Interventional patients.
  • Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calling a stroke alert overhead.
  • Verbalizes stroke alert process.
  • Performs and documents the NIHSS, administration and monitoring of thrombolytic therapy if patient deemed a candidate, preparation of patient for Endovascular treatment as indicated, assumes patient care of the stroke alert while in Interventional Radiology Department.
  • Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the NIHSS training and a minimum of 8 hours of stroke related training annually.
