More about our team The Cardiac Department has 36 beds. Patient population and diagnosis: Cardiac and CVA patients. Post op day 1-2 CABG, pacemaker patients, Bradycardia, Tachycardia, SVT, AFIB w/RVR or new a fib, acute MIs, PCI patients, Fem/Fem bypass, CEAs and more. We also do step down (IMCU) patients. Nurses are exposed to more critical patients, making it a good bridge to departments such as ED and ICU.

Requirements

  • Current Michigan RN license
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (within 1 year)
  • IMCU cross-training (within 1 year)
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) (within 1 year)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
