About The Position

The Staff Pad is partnering with a leading regional healthcare system in Wausau, Wisconsin, to recruit Registered Nurses (RNs) for a high-acuity 44-bed Cardiac Telemetry Step-Down Unit. This role offers an opportunity to strengthen cardiac, telemetry, progressive care, or critical-care skills by caring for complex patients alongside experienced professionals. You will gain hands-on experience with patients suffering from acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension, vascular disease, and complex pulmonary conditions. The position is full-time, 0.9 FTE (72 hours per pay period), with flexible 12-hour shifts, requiring every third weekend and two holidays per year. Shifts include 3:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM, and 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Active Wisconsin and/or Michigan RN license.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • ACLS certification required within six months of hire.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork, continuous learning, and exceptional patient care.

  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in a high-acuity cardiac telemetry environment.
  • Continuously monitor patients and recognize changes in condition.
  • Use strong clinical judgment and critical thinking to respond to changes in patient status.
  • Care for patients recovering from cardiac, vascular, and pulmonary procedures.
  • Manage patients with complex cardiac and pulmonary conditions.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions according to evidence-based practice.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and promote patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.
