Registered Nurse (RN)—Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)--Full Time Days
About The Position
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Texas Health Dallas is a 30-bed intensive care unit specializing in advanced Cardiac and Vascular surgical procedures. Located in the Hamon Tower, our ICU units benefit from direct oversight by board-certified critical care physicians who are on the unit 24 hours a day. The care team includes critical care nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants trained in critical care medicine, working collaboratively to provide patient care. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1, dependent on acuity. Texas Health Dallas is an 875-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital serving the Dallas community since 1966, specializing in cancer care, cardiology, neurosciences, women’s services, and emergency medicine. It is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level I Trauma Center, Comprehensive Heart Attack Center, and a designated Magnet hospital.
Requirements
- Diploma of Nursing OR Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- One-year critical care nursing experience, or completion of an RN residency required
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required (Expiration date greater than 3 months preferred)
- CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually within 90 Days Required
- Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency Req
Nice To Haves
- BSN preferred
- Cardiac ICU experience strongly preferred – including open-heart surgery recovery, IABP, Impella, CRRT, and bedside ECMO management.
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
