About The Position
The Sentara Heart Hospital, a 112-bed care facility, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Cath Holding Unit. This 30-bed unit prepares and recovers patients for various procedures including Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology procedures, Cardioversions, surgery, and ICDs/Pacemakers. The average daily patient volume is approximately 40-50 patients. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) are key components of this role. Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Virginia RN License Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.
- BLS within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS within 1 year of hire.
- 1+ years of bedside nursing experience.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN
- Telemetry -Cardiac experience preferred.
- Previous healthcare experience
Responsibilities
- Prepare and recover patients for procedures in the Cath lab, EP lab, Minor Procedure Room, and Cardiac OR.
- Perform nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation).
- Adhere to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
