About The Position

LCH 3K is a 22-bed medical observation unit that primarily serves the child and adolescent behavioral health population. Occasionally, it also sees patients with stable medical issues. The unit handles various diagnoses including suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, eating disorders, schizophrenia, autism, and sex trafficking. The unit aims to provide a safe environment for these youth while the team identifies the next level of care or services needed for their stability. The team is dynamic, passionate, and diverse, comprising nurses, psychiatric technicians, healthcare technicians, and patient safety attendants. They are dedicated to serving patients in a caring and safety-focused manner, finding satisfaction in making a difference in the lives of these youth. All staff receive Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and certification to assist with agitated and aggressive patients.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing.
  • At least 6 months of RN experience (not for new graduates).
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in behavioral health is preferred.
