Registered Nurse RN - Behavioral Health
About The Position
This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Behavioral Health department at Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital, located in Chicago, IL. The role involves providing direct patient care, including treating patients, educating them about their conditions, offering emotional support, running therapeutic groups, and performing psychiatric crisis intervention, seclusion, and restraint when necessary. RNs are also responsible for documenting patient histories, administering treatments and medications, and assisting with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. They play a crucial role in teaching patients and their families about managing illnesses or injuries, including diet, exercise, medication self-administration, and physical therapy.
Requirements
- Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards
- Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care
