About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in Behavioral Health at Castleview Hospital. The position requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment. The RN will perform plan of care interventions, administer medications, collect specimens, perform clinical treatments, and document patient care. They will monitor and communicate patient conditions, assist patients with daily living activities, and collaborate with other disciplines for comprehensive patient care. The role also involves patient and family education, advocating for patient well-being, performing patient assessments, identifying needs, initiating interventions, and ensuring timely and accurate documentation related to medical necessity and QI assessments. The RN will also be responsible for the completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.

Requirements

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Requires a current state RN license.
  • Possess an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • ACLS and PALS are required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience preferred.
  • ASLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
  • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
  • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.
