About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Behavioral Health Department at Texas Health Dallas will bring their passion to the team to ensure better together. This role is in a busy outpatient clinic consisting of Partial Hospital Programs and Intensive Out-Patient Program, serving adults with co-occurring behavioral health and chemical dependency needs. The RN will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the safety and treatment of patients participating in the day hospital program. They will also participate in treatment team meetings and teach nursing groups three times a week for patients in women’s, co-ed, and chemical dependency groups.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma required OR Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
  • BCLS prior to hire
  • BCPMHN upon hire required
  • ACPI (30 days within hire)
  • One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program required
  • RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • One year of Behavioral Health experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans for the care of the patient
  • Interventions as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
