The registered nurse (RN) plans, coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served in the Behavioral Health Hospital. The RN ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with departmental standards of care. The RN demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the assigned unit and the organization. They remain flexible to changing systems - are expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practices, and treat staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. This role is within an 18 Bed In-Patient Unit, operates on 12 Hour Shifts, and is part of a 24/7 Crisis Triage Facility.

Requirements

  • Current state RN license
  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree from an accredited nursing school
  • Active Washington RN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • BLS
  • 1 year of behavioral health RN experience required.
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Critical thinking and decisive judgment skills; able to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments.
  • Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple clinical software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice for behavioral health patients.
  • Collaborates with the interprofessional team to support a safe, therapeutic environment and high-quality outcomes.
  • Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
  • Assesses learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
