About The Position

This position serves as a central point of contact for our high-risk obstetric patients; guiding them as they navigate complex care pathways, coordinating multidisciplinary resources, and ensuring timely access to information and services. The Antenatal Resource Center (ARC) at Advocate Medical Group Maternal Fetal Medicine – Chicago provides specialized care for patients with high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal or fetal conditions. As a referral-based clinic, ARC partners closely with OB‑GYN providers to deliver coordinated, comprehensive care throughout pregnancy. Our multidisciplinary team includes maternal fetal medicine physicians, registered nurses, obstetrical sonographers, and genetic counselors. Services include advanced ultrasounds throughout pregnancy, fetal echocardiograms, gynecology ultrasound, antenatal testing (non-stress tests), genetic counseling, and maternal fetal medicine consults for high-risk conditions. Nurses at ARC play a vital role in care coordination, patient education, and supporting patients through complex pregnancy journeys. The unit offers a collaborative, fast-paced environment focused on clinical excellence and compassionate, patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Must have a minimum of one year of RN experience in Labor and Delivery and/or 1 year of ambulatory experience in a Maternal Fetal Medicine clinic
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification is required

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in understanding their care plans, appointments, and recommended interventions, ensuring clear communication between patients and their healthcare providers.
  • Review and analyze electronic medical records (EMR) to extract essential clinical information, flagging items relevant to ongoing care and facilitating communication among providers.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments and ensure seamless transitions between care settings.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of patient interactions, care plans, and interventions in the EMR.
  • Complete antenatal testing as ordered (NSTs).
  • Provide and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
