About The Position

This is a floating inpatient position. The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends to understand patient conditions, medications, and self-care skills; noting changing conditions and needs; and re-evaluating care objectives. The role involves floating to various departments such as Cardio/pulmonary, orthopedics, short stay, surgical renal, and surgical trauma.

Requirements

• 12 months of nursing experience required
• Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing
• An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire
• Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
• Ability to communicate effectively with others
• Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions; communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team; coordinating with other healthcare providers; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends; and conferring with physicians.
• Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories; examining patients; documenting patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; conferring with family and friends; developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; and defining nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables.
• Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals; instructing patient, family, and friends to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions; and providing information and resources.
• Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care standards; reviewing patient records; noting changing conditions and needs; re-evaluating care objectives; and modifying nursing care plan.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations; adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; and alerting others regarding potential concerns.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Keeps patient care equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; and calling for repairs.
• Keeps patient care supplies ready by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; and stocking items.
• Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership.
