Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute/Emergency/Long Term Care - Training Opportunity
About The Position
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a training opportunity in Acute/Emergency/Long Term Care at Heiltsuk Hospital in Bella Bella, BC. This role practices within a client and family-centred care model, adhering to the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice. The nurse will provide care to patients/clients on the inpatient ward, predominantly older residents in a continuing care setting, and emergency nursing care to patients/clients of all ages. The position involves working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, enhancing quality of life, consulting with other healthcare providers, demonstrating continuous improvement and best practices, and maintaining clinical competence. Participation in designated committees/teams and approved research projects may also be required. This is a training opportunity with the BCIT Emergency Nursing Specialty Program, requiring successful completion of post-basic training prior to working in the department. Successful candidates agree to remain with VCH for at least 18 months post-training in the supported specialty area, or VCH will seek to recover program costs.
Requirements

- Eligibility for post-basic training education is prioritized to applicants with approximately one year recent acute medical/surgical experience upon program full-time start date.
- Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the department.
- Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
- As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections.

Responsibilities

- Provides nursing care to patients/clients on the inpatient ward.
- Provides nursing care to predominantly older residents in a continuing care setting.
- Provides emergency nursing care to patients/clients of all ages presenting to the emergency department with a wide variety of symptoms.
