Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – 1:1 School Nurse (Special Education) for an exciting Travel or Local job in Phoenix, AZ. This position involves providing direct nursing care and support to a medically complex student within a school setting.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Arizona
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification
  • Completion of a Physical Assessment Skills Course
  • Eligible for Arizona School Nurse Certification
  • Current Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination documentation
  • COVID-19 vaccination documentation
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) or more years of nursing experience
  • Experience in Pediatric Nursing, School Nursing, Urgent Care, or Home Health
  • Experience caring for medically fragile or special needs children
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities and special education environments
  • Experience with respiratory treatments and chronic medical conditions
  • Physical assessment experience related to pediatric and school-age populations
  • American Sign Language (ASL) experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 nursing care and continuous health monitoring for a medically complex student
  • Accompany the student on school transportation to and from home each day
  • Administer prescribed medications, breathing treatments, and other physician-ordered interventions
  • Assess and respond to changes in the student's condition and implement appropriate nursing interventions
  • Monitor respiratory status and provide emergency care when necessary
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records, medication logs, and treatment documentation
  • Communicate with parents, physicians, educators, therapists, and school staff regarding student health needs
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individualized healthcare plans and IEP-related health services
  • Evaluate student health concerns and coordinate referrals to appropriate healthcare providers
  • Conduct health screenings and maintain compliance with school health requirements
  • Educate students, families, and staff regarding health conditions and wellness practices
  • Manage health-related emergencies and provide first aid and nursing care
  • Collaborate with instructional and residential staff to ensure student safety and well-being
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, safety standards, and nursing best practices
  • Participate in training provided by the student's current RN and/or family
