About The Position

Nemours is seeking a Registered Nurse Resident for our 5 West Hematology/Oncology/Transplant and Cellular Therapy Unit in Wilmington, DE. This is a full-time position with 60 hours per pay period, requiring 12-hour night shifts, holiday, and every third weekend rotations. The role involves providing inpatient care for pediatric patients with complex diagnoses and treatments, including leukemia, lymphoma, brain tumors, neuroblastomas, solid organ malignancies, sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, diabetes, and other genetic and immune disorders. Nurses on this unit are responsible for coordinating patient care within an inter-professional team and must be competent in caring for endocrine patients, as well as pre-, peri-, and post-transplant and cellular therapy patients, including chemotherapy and biotherapy administration. The unit also cares for stem cell and bone marrow donors. This role requires successful completion and maintenance of specific APHON courses and certifications within one year of hire. Nurses are encouraged to pursue specialty certifications like CPON or CPHON.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Eligible for Delaware State license (or compact license).
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN is preferred.
  • PALS optional but required to obtain within a year of hire.
  • Strongly encouraged to maintain or achieve their specialty certification: CPON (Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse), or CPHON (Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating patient care as part of an inter-professional team.
  • Providing inpatient care for pediatric patients requiring services from Hematology/ Oncology, Transplant and Cellular Therapy, and Endocrine subspecialties.
  • Caring for patients with diagnoses including leukemia, lymphoma, brain tumors, neuroblastomas, solid organ malignancies, sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, diabetes, and other types of genetic and immune disorders.
  • Caring for stem cell and bone marrow donors.
  • Administering chemotherapy and biotherapy.
  • Completing and maintaining the National APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Course.
  • Completing and maintaining the APHON BBMT Core Curriculum.
  • Completing and maintaining Hematology and Oncology 101.
  • Completing and maintaining PALS certification within one (1) year of hire.
  • Flexing to other units and hematology oncology clinic as per the unit’s rotation pull guidelines as needed.
