About The Position

This is not a direct care giver role. Instead, the selected candidate will act as a consultant focusing on patients with chronic or complex wounds in an inpatient rehabilitation setting, to improve the overall quality of life for patients and their families.

Requirements

• Valid New York State nursing license.
• 3 years of nursing experience with wound care hand-on experience
• Specialized Wound Care Certification required

Nice To Haves

• Medical-surgery experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assess wounds to determine their nature and severity, and develop treatment plans to promote healing and prevent infection.
• Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, nursing staff, social workers, and therapists, to ensure comprehensive care and to optimize patient outcomes.
• Provides guidance and training to patients, families, and other caregivers on proper wound care techniques, infection prevention, and pressure ulcer prevention strategies.
• Stays updated on the latest wound care research, techniques, products, and technologies.
• Provides recommendations for an evidence-based wound care regimen and enters orders approved by the provider.
