About The Position

This specific role involves patient education, assessment, and triaging symptoms related to radiation treatments at the IU Health Bloomington and Bedford Cancer Radiation Centers. The ideal candidate will be compassionate and enthusiastic, with availability Monday through Friday. The centers typically operate from 8 am to 4:30 pm, but hours may need to adjust based on patient census. The facilities include three treatment units, one CT for treatment planning, and one brachytherapy treatment unit, serving cancer patients in south-central Indiana.

Requirements

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Responsibilities

• Education, assessment, and triaging symptoms of radiation treatments for patients at the IU Health Bloomington and Bedford Cancer Radiation Centers.
