About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Quality Management Consultant/Accreditation Coordinator provides clinical expertise in quality management and accreditation. The He/She leads and evaluates complex patient-care processes, using strong judgment, collaboration, and communication skills. The incumbent independently plans, implements, and improves care delivery, driving interdisciplinary teamwork and innovative process-improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing ( ACEN ) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education ( CCNE )
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

  • Experienced in coordinating accreditation and survey readiness for The Joint Commission, the Office of Inspector General, and other review bodies; conducting system and patient tracers; leading gap analyses; and converting complex regulatory standards into actionable practices.
  • Active in councils and committees with accountable outcomes.
  • Five years of nursing experience and two years of quality experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in several facility councils, committees, and workgroups.
  • Apply specialized principles and practices to ensure a systems approach to healthcare delivery
  • Coordinates organizational readiness activities/process for survey by Joint Commission (TJC), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), and other external reviews.
  • Organizes and conducts system and patient tracers across the organization, communicates opportunities to local management and aggregates tracer findings to report through the governance structure.
  • Coordinates the distribution of new VHA Directives/Handbooks.
  • Assists local staff on conducting gap analysis and action plans to meet new and existing requirements in Directives/ Handbooks.
  • Evaluates previously closed actions for sustained compliance.
  • Advises staff and management of relevant standards and evaluates compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirement.
  • Educates staff across the medical center on standards and regulations relevant to care provided and change sin standards and regulations.
