About The Position

Vanderbilt Health is the region’s largest comprehensive academic health system, comprising eight hospitals and over 180 clinics. They are dedicated to providing world-class care, advancing medicine through patient care, education, and research, and fostering a collaborative and supportive community. This role is within the 7JAT Pulmonary Med Stepdown 10 unit, which cares for adult patients (18+) with complex pulmonary conditions. These include post-lung transplant patients (admitted for complications or after transfer from CVICU), pulmonary hypertension, post-endoscopic lung volume reduction procedures, interstitial lung disease exacerbations, patients awaiting lung transplant, and ECMO graduates. The patient population is unique due to the complicated range of conditions requiring a multifaceted approach to care. The unit environment is described as exciting, dynamic, and team-oriented.

Requirements

  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • 1 year experience

Responsibilities

  • Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
  • Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
