Registered Nurse, Full Time, Neuro Stepdown, Nights- VUH
About The Position
This is a full-time night shift position for a Registered Nurse on the Neuro Stepdown unit at Vanderbilt University Hospital. The role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The nurse will collaborate with the healthcare team, establish patient goals, and evaluate progress. The unit cares for adult patients (18+) with various neurological conditions including acute ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, subdural/epidural hematoma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, seizures, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Myasthenia Gravis exacerbation, meningitis/encephalitis, spinal cord injury, cerebrovascular intervention, and brain/spinal tumor resection. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, requiring adaptability and strong communication skills. Nurses on this unit work with skilled teams, state-of-the-art equipment, and cutting-edge technology.
Requirements
- LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
- Relevant Work Experience
- 1 year experience
- Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Responsibilities
- Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
- Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
- Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
- Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
