About The Position

MercyOne Dubuque is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Psychiatric Services department. This full-time position involves working 12-hour night shifts (6:00 pm - 6:30 am), totaling 36 hours per week. The role focuses on providing and directing safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Utilizing evidence-based practice and critical thinking, the RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care for a diverse patient population. This includes managing telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable, and providing age-appropriate care. The RN will also supervise and coordinate care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members, and facilitate communication with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. The position requires maintaining a working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies to ensure ethical and professional conduct.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing required
  • Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals

  • Provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
