About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Psych unit will provide care to psychiatric patients, including children/adolescents and adults. This role requires medication administration, care plan evaluation, and management of patient safety and documentation.

Requirements

• BLS and CPI certifications (preferred prior to start, required to obtain on assignment).
• Completion of an approved nursing education program; valid Registered Nurse license from the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Ability to perform take downs and physical restraints as needed.
• Experience with EPIC charting system and Omnicell medication dispensing.
• Excellent communication and group didactic skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications (injectable and PO), manage care plans, and complete necessary documentation.
• Conduct assessments, admission screens, minor wound care, EKGS, and glucometer use.
• Participate in patient safety rounds every 15 minutes and take telephone or verbal orders.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and physical restraints when necessary.
• Facilitate group therapy sessions and provide patient education.
