About The Position

Firelands Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care unit. This full-time position involves night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. The role focuses on implementing the nursing process, including carrying out physician orders, performing assessments, monitoring patient care, documenting interventions, and instructing patients and families. The nurse will also respond to emergencies, manage medications and supplies, and ensure equipment cleanliness. A key aspect of the role is demonstrating service excellence and acting as an advocate for Firelands Regional Medical Center (FRMC). The position offers a supportive work-life balance, with alternating every third weekend, and is located in Sandusky, a town noted for its coastal charm and proximity to Lake Erie.

Requirements

Current Ohio RN license and CPR prior to patient care experience.
Current ACLS and Basic EKG required or obtained within 6 months of hire and remain current.
Excellent organizational, customer service skills, and computer proficiency are a must.

Nice To Haves

PCCN certification preferred within 2 years in area of expertise.

Responsibilities

Implements the nursing process with patients including carrying out physicians orders regarding diet, medication and treatment in accordance with Firelands standards of care.
Performs assessments; monitors and ensures quality care through observation and evaluation; documents nursing interventions on care plans, medical records, and reports findings to physicians as needed.
Instructs patients, staff, and family members regarding treatments, nursing plans and related patient care directed towards a safe discharge.
Responds to emergencies; maintains availability of medications and supplies; ensures cleanliness of equipment and environment.
Demonstrate service excellence and acts as an ambassador and advocate for FRMC.
