The Ball Memorial adult oncology progressive care unit is a 25-bed unit specializing in the care of hospice/end-of-life care, cancer patients, patients with COPD, and those with weakness due to acute disease. This unit operates under the Team Based Acuity Adaptable Model (TBAAM), an interdisciplinary team that rounds daily with the clinical nurse to provide better continuity of care. Nursing skills gained on this unit include progressive level of care, ACLS, and chemo competency. The unit values team collaboration and has support staff available, including a bath tech on dayshift, a PRN RN on nights, and a Clinical Advisor joining in 2024. The unit staff includes traditional IU Health employees, long-term domestic travelers, and international nurses.
