About The Position

Advanced Medical Imaging is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a PRN position at their outpatient imaging center in Kokomo. This role will support contrast exams on days when the radiologist is working remotely, operating on an as-needed basis. The Registered Nurse, under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor, Clinical Manager, or Clinical Director, functions as a highly-skilled clinician using an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. They manage care at a highly-developed skill level in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members, ensuring services are delivered safely and in accordance with guidelines and regulatory requirements. The nurse also serves as a team member within the imaging center, contributing to improved clinical practice through feedback.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year as an RN in a clinical setting
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited RN program.
  • Must meet the state licensure requirement for the state in which they practice.
  • BLS certification required within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.
  • Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely.
  • Ability to manage medical emergencies and contrast reactions under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including information and billing systems, keyboard input, digital archiving, and retrieving of data.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS certification may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Imaging Center staff to facilitate timely patient care.
  • Exercises sound judgment and recognizes when to escalate issues or concerns.
  • Competently assists with assessment, planning, and implementation of nursing care.
  • Identifies patients and assists technologists with patient preparation and positioning.
  • Prepares patient for procedure by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
  • Provides optimal patient care by explaining procedure to patient and answering questions.
  • Performs venipuncture and maintains intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Identifies, prepares, and/or administers medications as prescribed by and under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Competently prepares, measures, and delivers oral contrast to patients under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Monitors and records the physiological condition of patients.
  • Establishes ownership of clinical area by taking pride in appearance and readiness of exam rooms, treatment area, equipment, and supplies.
  • Serves, manages, and supports internal and external customers.
  • Follows established Safety Standards to ensure safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Takes the initiative to help other modalities/areas of the Imaging Center as assigned or when own work load/area allows.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates consistent use of AIDET (Acknowledge patient, Introduce yourself, provide Duration/timeline for test, Explain the test, & Thank them for choosing our center) and HEAL (Hear them out, Empathize, Apologize, & Leap into action to solve) when interacting with patients/customers.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
