About The Position

Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Hospital in Panama City, FL is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for their Preoperative Care department. The role involves conducting comprehensive preoperative assessments, maintaining sterile and safety standards, monitoring patient responses, managing patient comfort, and collaborating with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure efficient and coordinated surgical care.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Florida Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida required. Credentialed from State Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Nice To Haves

Minimum 2 years of surgical services experience, with a strong familiarity across diverse surgical procedures.
Excellent clinical education and patient engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive in-person and phone preoperative assessments to ensure patients are medically prepared and cleared for surgery.
Implement and maintain sterile and safety standards to protect patients and support high-quality surgical care.
Monitor patient responses to treatments and interventions to identify risks early and support safe surgical outcomes.
Manage patient comfort and address concerns proactively by assessing pain, anxiety, and readiness for procedures.
Anticipate patient and procedural needs by collaborating with surgeons and anesthesia teams to ensure efficient, well-coordinated surgical care.
