The Outpatient Recovery Unit provides specialized care for patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions performed on an outpatient basis. Working closely with the Pre-Operative (Pre-Op) Surgery Unit, the team ensures patients safely recover from anesthesia and procedures while receiving individualized care, monitoring, education, and discharge support. The Preop/Discharge RN provides care for preoperative and Phase II postoperative patients, performing assessments, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, and delivering patient and family education. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working in both the preoperative and discharge areas. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care, maintain accurate documentation, supports quality improvement initiatives, and upholds departmental, regulatory, and patient safety standards.
