About The Position

The Preop/PACU department at Mount Carmel New Albany has 27 beds and primarily serves orthopedic patients, with additional cases in breast oncology, plastics, and general surgery. The department maintains a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 RN to 2 patients in Preop and PACU, and 1 RN to 4 patients in Phase II PACU. The focus on orthopedic surgery at Mount Carmel New Albany contributes to a unique, family-like atmosphere for both staff and patients. The Registered Nurse (RN), in accordance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, is responsible for providing care that is sensitive to each person's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. In a collaborative, team-oriented environment, the RN is accountable for patient care delivery using the Nursing Process and adhering to the organization's standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate from school of nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • For Casual RNs 2 years of experience is required.
  • All new graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are subject to participate and will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Critical Care, Emergency Department, or PACU experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice.
  • Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
  • Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner.
  • Keeps patient/family apprised/updated.
  • Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.
