About The Position

At Sedalia Surgery Center, we are seeking an experienced Full-Time Registered Nurse (Pre/Post OP) to join our team. The Registered Nurse will assist in the organization and daily function of the surgery center in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards and Center policies and procedures. Care for patients preparing for their surgical procedure. Monitor patient's vital signs and continuously evaluate patient recovery from anesthesia. May assist anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other physicians.

Requirements

  • Current State RN license.
  • IV placement experience
  • One (1) year experience in Preoperative and postoperative experience.
  • If BLS and ACLS are not current upon hire, successful completion of a course is required within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years+ preferred experience in Preoperative and postoperative experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collect clinical data with patient's medical and nursing care.
  • Set priorities.
  • Communicate well with patients, families, teammates, physicians, other members of the healthcare team.
  • Recognize legal and policy limits of individual practice.
  • Assess, plan, evaluate and ensure the implementation of the patient's care to achieve identified outcomes and delivers safe patient care according to facility policy and procedure.
  • Assess patient status on admission and on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinate nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge.
  • Adhere to all facility policies and procedures when providing patient care.
  • Provide for patient care in emergency situations.
  • Assess learning needs according to patient's level of understanding and readiness to learn.
  • Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of nursing care provided.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibility as assigned.
  • Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills.
  • Perform history and physical assessment of patient.
  • Complete review of medical record.
  • Admit patient according to procedure.
  • Promote physical comfort and provide emotional support and safety for patient.
  • Administer and chart medications as ordered by physician.
  • Reinforce and clarify physician instructions and explanation of procedures to patient.
  • Provide nursing care and appropriate monitoring according to policies and procedures.
  • Verify surgical/procedure site with patient and according to surgical schedule and patient History and Physical.
  • Obtain and verify operative/procedure consent.
  • Provide instructions according to patient need.
  • Complete nursing documentation.
  • Provide emergency care according to physician and administrative policy.
  • Assist with preoperative and postoperative patient calls.
  • Review charts for completeness and signatures of physicians.
  • Maintain an environment that promotes safety, including temperature range, electrical safety measures, oxygen and suction equipment, resuscitation equipment, noise control, traffic control, and control of contamination.
