About The Position

This position focuses on providing pre-procedure services for patients. The Registered Nurse will conduct patient interviews via telephone prior to scheduled surgeries to obtain and share procedural information and directions, and provide patient education related to the upcoming surgery. The role involves informing patients about the pre-anesthetic evaluation process, collaborating with the Anesthesia provider team, and ensuring required pre-surgical testing is completed. The nurse will integrate research findings into practice, work cohesively with related nursing areas, and maintain knowledge of nursing procedures specific to different service lines and current standards of nursing practice. The position also involves promoting hospital quality improvement goals, independently providing safe and effective nursing care, utilizing the nursing process, guiding assistive personnel, and collaborating with the healthcare team for optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required
  • Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required
  • BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required
  • Minimum of 5 years-experience in peri anesthesia (PAT, Pre-op, PACU/Phase 2)
  • Proficiency in EPIC Application

Nice To Haves

  • BSN strongly preferred
  • Strong background in Pre-admission testing strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts patient interview via telephone prior to scheduled surgeries to obtain and share procedural information and directions
  • Provides patient education via telephone related to upcoming surgery

  • Collaborates closely with the Anesthesia provider team
  • Ensures required pre-surgical testing is completed prior to patient surgical appointment

  • Maintains knowledge of nursing procedures specific to different service lines
  • Maintains knowledge and competency reflective of current standards of nursing practice.
  • Promotes hospital quality improvement goals.
  • Independently provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for a patient population on a specific unit
  • Utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care
  • Guide and direct assigned unlicensed assistive personnel in delivering interdisciplinary patient care
  • Communicate and collaborate with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care
  • Positively contributing to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience
