About The Position

Endeavor Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Pre Procedure Services department. This part-time position involves conducting patient interviews via telephone prior to scheduled surgeries to obtain and share procedural information, provide patient education, and inform patients about the pre-anesthetic evaluation process. The role requires close collaboration with the Anesthesia provider team, ensuring all pre-surgical testing is completed, and integrating research findings into nursing practice. The nurse will work cohesively with related nursing areas, maintain knowledge of nursing procedures specific to different service lines, and uphold current standards of nursing practice. This position also involves guiding unlicensed assistive personnel and communicating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care, while positively contributing to safety outcomes and promoting a high-quality patient experience.

Requirements

  • Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required
  • Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required
  • BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required
  • Minimum of 5 years-experience in peri anesthesia (PAT, Pre-op, PACU/Phase 2)
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Endeavor Health, exhibits a positive service orientation, and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the organization.

  • BSN strongly preferred
  • Strong background in Pre-admission testing strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in EPIC Application

Responsibilities

  • Conducts patient interview via telephone prior to scheduled surgeries to obtain and share procedural information and directions
  • Provides patient education via telephone related to upcoming surgery
  • Informs patient of pre-anesthetic evaluation process
  • Collaborates closely with the Anesthesia provider team
  • Ensures required pre-surgical testing is completed prior to patient surgical appointment
  • Integrates research findings into nursing practice
  • Works cohesively with related nursing areas prior to surgical procedure
  • Maintains knowledge of nursing procedures specific to different service lines
  • Maintains knowledge and competency reflective of current standards of nursing practice.
  • Promotes hospital quality improvement goals.
  • Independently provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for a patient population on a specific unit
  • Utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care
  • Guide and direct assigned unlicensed assistive personnel in delivering interdisciplinary patient care
  • Communicate and collaborate with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care
  • Positively contributing to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience
